Job Summary
Supporting a full pediatric genetics team, the full-time Genetic Counselor Assistant will manage patient referrals, assist with clinic flow, and coordinate patient care while working closely with Genetic Counselors and other healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Review and triage patient referrals for scheduling and other actions
- Interview patients to document personal and family medical histories
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of medical records and patient pedigrees
Required qualifications
- Six months of experience in a medical office setting with direct patient contact or one year in a high-volume public contact position
- Basic computer keyboarding skills, including typing 30-45 wpm
- Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program may substitute for one year of experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with patients and staff
- Excellent organizational skills and customer service abilities
