Genetic Statistical Subject Matter Expert

Job Summary

Providing expert guidance in forensic science and population genetics, the part-time Genetic Statistical Subject Matter Expert will evaluate and review Population Statistics to ensure accurate calculations and prevent misuse within the CODIS community, while also contributing to white papers and recommendations for kinship and paternity calculations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and ensure the accuracy of Population Statistics calculations and provide suggestions for improvement
• Support the CODIS program by addressing emergent issues and creating white papers for government recommendations
• Collaborate with ECS and government entities to publish scholarly articles and present at relevant conferences

Required qualifications

• Active Secret clearance
• 3+ years of experience in human population genetics
• Strong understanding of Popstats calculations, including Forensic Single Sample, Mixture, Kinship, and Parentage
• Experience in verifying the statistical and scientific validity of software changes
• Knowledge of the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) is desired
