Georgia Licensed Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

Reviewing and assigning codes for outpatient medical records, the full-time remote Georgia Licensed Outpatient Coder will focus on coding for hospital outpatient surgery, wound care, and observation based on established guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes outpatient medical record documentation for accurate coding
• Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 HCPCS codes based on coding criteria
• Ensures compliance with coding guidelines and standards for outpatient surgery and related services

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
• Hospital coding experience required
• Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization preferred
• One or more coding certifications required upon hire
• Preferred certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, or CPC
