Geospatial Technician II

Job Summary

Supporting the Census Bureau in Suitland, MD, the full-time hourly Geospatial Technician II will manage GIS data enhancement and maintenance using ESRI and custom GIS software, while working in a hybrid schedule that includes both remote and onsite tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers using custom map production tools
• Maintain live spatial data in a secured environment, including editing and creating various data layers
• Manage daily production schedules and work with customized data automation tools and procedures

Required qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years' experience
• Experience with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop), Arc View, and AutoCAD Map
• Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography, surveying, and drafting is strongly desired
• Experience with ArcSDE, ArcIMS, Cartography, Imagery, and understanding of Databases is a plus
• Must be a US Citizen and currently reside in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area
