Job Summary
Supporting ongoing resource investigations across the Western United States, the full-time remote GIS Analyst - Geology will georeference historic geologic maps, evaluate mineral occurrence information, and create publication-quality geospatial products in collaboration with geologists and geophysicists.
Key responsibilities
- Georeference historic geologic maps and extract previously undigitized data
- Evaluate mineral occurrence information and interpret satellite imagery for geospatial analysis
- Create and manage geospatial databases and produce high-quality maps and figures for scientific publications
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience in geology and GIS
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, including georeferencing and spatial data development
- Strong geologic interpretation skills for identifying lithology, mineralization, and structural features
- Experience developing geologic and mineral-resource databases from scientific literature
- Ability to produce publication-quality geosciences products and create compliant metadata for geospatial datasets
