GIS Analyst - Geology

Job Summary

Supporting ongoing resource investigations across the Western United States, the full-time remote GIS Analyst - Geology will georeference historic geologic maps, evaluate mineral occurrence information, and create publication-quality geospatial products in collaboration with geologists and geophysicists.

Key responsibilities

• Georeference historic geologic maps and extract previously undigitized data
• Evaluate mineral occurrence information and interpret satellite imagery for geospatial analysis
• Create and manage geospatial databases and produce high-quality maps and figures for scientific publications

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience in geology and GIS
• Proficiency in ArcGIS, including georeferencing and spatial data development
• Strong geologic interpretation skills for identifying lithology, mineralization, and structural features
• Experience developing geologic and mineral-resource databases from scientific literature
• Ability to produce publication-quality geosciences products and create compliant metadata for geospatial datasets
