Government Mortgage Underwriter

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Government Mortgage Underwriter (Central US).

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite FHA and VA loans and potentially other loan types such as Bond and USDA
• Communicate regularly with Loan Officers and Processors regarding loan statuses
• Assist in training other mortgage positions and maintain a conversation log for tracking files

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of specific government underwriting experience
• Must possess valid CHUMS and/or LAPP/Sar to underwrite FHA and VA loans
• Recent experience underwriting USDA and Bond loans is highly preferred
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment with strong leadership skills
