Government Underwriter

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Government Underwriter responsible for evaluating mortgage loan documents to ensure compliance with guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review credit documents, income, assets, and property titles in accordance with FHA and VA guidelines
• Make independent loan decisions (Approve or Decline) and sign off on conditions
• Utilize various systems to verify the validity of required forms and maintain communication throughout the loan process

Required Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of recent experience as a DE and SAR Underwriter
• A minimum of 2 years of recent expertise in FHA and VA lending
• Thorough understanding of current FHA and VA guidelines
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations in the mortgage banking sector
• Proficient knowledge of DU/LP/TOTAL Scorecards is required
