Graduate Statistics Tutor

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Graduate Statistics Tutor, the part-time contract position will provide virtual support to a student enrolled in a graduate-level course on probabilistic methods in engineering design, focusing on advanced concepts such as random variables, regression, and reliability analysis, while maintaining a flexible evening schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet virtually with the student twice per week, previewing course material and ensuring familiarity with concepts before lectures
• Break down complex material into clear steps, enhancing problem-solving fluency and connecting principles to engineering applications
• Identify and strengthen gaps in prerequisite knowledge efficiently, adjusting session frequency as needed throughout the semester

Required Qualifications

• Completed graduate-level coursework or teaching experience in probability and mathematical statistics
• Experience with reliability analysis, including limit state functions and reliability-based design methods
• Ability to derive and work with distributions of functions of random variables
• Experience building or running Monte Carlo simulations for uncertainty quantification
• Availability for evening sessions in Central time and ability to start immediately
