Job Summary
To support a new initiative integrating atmospheric measurements of methane into national greenhouse gas inventories, the remote independent contractor Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Policy Consultant will develop and implement national-level case studies, focusing on translating these measurements for 3-5 countries while ensuring compliance with the UNFCCC transparency framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement national-level case studies demonstrating the integration of atmospheric methane measurements into greenhouse gas inventories
- Engage with country points of contact responsible for compiling inventories and collaborate with the UNFCCC inventories program
- Identify and strategize the integration of atmospheric measurements into national greenhouse gas inventories for selected countries
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with national greenhouse gas inventories and IPCC inventory methodologies
- Deep understanding of the UNFCCC transparency framework, including Biennial Transparency Reports and Nationally Determined Contributions
- Knowledge of atmospheric methane observations, atmospheric inversion modeling, or emissions verification
- Background in methane emissions accounting across sectors such as energy, agriculture, or waste
- Experience working with government agencies, inventory compilers, or international climate initiatives
