Hazardous Materials Coordinator

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe and legal management of hazardous materials, the full-time Hazardous Materials Coordinator will oversee the acquisition, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while providing training and guidance to staff and students onsite.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the implementation of policies and procedures related to hazardous materials and chemical safety across the college
• Conduct inspections and audits of laboratories and chemical storage areas to ensure safety compliance
• Develop emergency procedures and coordinate responses to hazardous material spills or leaks

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field
• Certification for Hazardous Materials Emergency First Response or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
• One year of experience in environmental health and safety issues
• Laboratory or hazardous chemical safety experience preferred
