Head of Applied Machine Learning

Job Summary

Leading a team of applied ML scientists, the full-time Head of Applied Machine Learning will manage fraud detection and identity verification models, drive strategy and execution in a remote environment, and provide technical mentorship while collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage and mentor a growing team of applied ML scientists, establishing engineering and modeling practices
• Own the strategy and execution of the applied ML domain, including roadmap, priorities, and results
• Research emerging fraud patterns and develop new ML capabilities to inform product and business decisions

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience in applying machine learning or statistics, including 6+ years managing teams
• Experience leading ML or data science teams in fraud, identity, fintech, or adjacent risk-focused domains
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline
• Proven success in developing and deploying production machine learning models with production-quality Python code
• Strong knowledge of modern LLMs and AI-assisted development workflows, with sound judgment in data governance
