Head of Communications

Job Summary

Leading the communications function for a growing portfolio of independent research organizations, the full-time Head of Communications & Engagement will build and scale communications capabilities, coach scientific leaders on media strategies, and manage internal and external communications while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Teach FRO teams to develop effective media and communications strategies through workshops and coaching
• Serve as the primary communications resource for FRO teams, addressing their needs and connecting them with external vendors
• Manage Convergent's internal communications and digital channels, ensuring consistency and quality across all platforms

Required qualifications

• Proven experience leading a communications function with a comprehensive understanding of narrative, media relations, and digital channels
• Strong coaching skills, capable of guiding scientific founders in developing their public voice and media readiness
• Demonstrated ability to create targeted media strategies and manage relationships with journalists and PR vendors
• Operational discipline with experience in managing editorial calendars and communication workflows
• Resourcefulness and adaptability in navigating complex dynamics across multiple independent organizations
