Head of Data Engineering

Job Summary

Leading a high-performing team, the full-time Head of Data Engineering will build and develop Mercury's core data infrastructure, shape the long-term data platform strategy, and ensure reliable analytics and AI capabilities, with options for remote work across the United States and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a team of senior data and analytics engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture
• Define and execute the long-term data platform strategy, including architecture, tooling, and reusable data products
• Establish best practices for data reliability, observability, quality, governance, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within data or engineering teams
• Experience architecting modern data platforms at scale, including data foundations and semantic layers
• Proven technical judgment and organizational influence in evolving data architecture during rapid growth
• Deep expertise in modern data infrastructure, including data modeling, orchestration, and governance
• Experience collaborating with Security, Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to meet regulatory standards
