Head of Design

Job Summary

Leading a global design organization, the full-time Head of Design will own the design vision and strategy for Yahoo Mail, managing a team of approximately 20 designers while collaborating with cross-functional leadership to integrate AI into product innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the design organization, establishing objective-setting frameworks and fostering professional development
• Formulate and drive an enterprise-wide design vision that transforms user needs into business drivers and governs cross-platform design systems
• Collaborate with executive leadership to translate corporate business strategy into product roadmaps and optimize design operations through AI-driven workflows

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of professional product design experience with a focus on high-volume consumer products
• 5+ years of management experience leading multi-tiered design teams of 15+ personnel
• Proven track record in designing and governing AI-powered product features and conversational interfaces
• Extensive portfolio showcasing advanced cross-platform design architecture across web, iOS, and Android
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
