Head of Observability

Job Summary

Leading the observability strategy for a remote, full-time role, the Head of Observability will define and execute the observability framework, manage the engineering team, and enhance both internal and customer-facing observability products.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the observability strategy, including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and profiling
• Own the customer-facing observability experience, ensuring best-in-class dashboards and metrics for developers
• Build and lead a high-performing observability engineering team, collaborating across engineering teams to implement consistent instrumentation

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Experience building or operating an observability platform at scale
• Deep technical knowledge of the observability stack, including tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
• Strong understanding of observability as a product, focusing on developer experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
