Head of Operations Engineering

Job Summary

Driving the operational backbone of AI initiatives, the full-time Head of Operations Engineering will manage platform ownership, AI feature evaluation, and cost control while enabling cross-functional teams in a hybrid working environment from Melbourne or Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Own the AI platform, including pipelines, model and prompt versioning, and monitoring
• Establish standards for evaluating AI features before and after launch to ensure effectiveness
• Drive internal AI adoption by developing tooling and workflows for Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Support teams

Required qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in ML/AI engineering, data platforms, or AI operations with hands-on production system ownership
• Experience in managing AI or ML systems in production environments, including evaluation and incident response
• Fluency with modern LLM tooling and understanding of cost, latency, and output variability
• Proven track record of driving internal AI adoption and enabling teams to change workflows
• Strong judgment in build-vs-buy decisions and ability to set appropriate data handling guardrails
