Head of Research

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Head of Research to build and lead the research function focused on enhancing core technology in web data extraction.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the research roadmap, prioritizing projects that enhance search, ranking, and information retrieval
• Ship research to production at scale, ensuring reliability and maintainability of systems
• Build and lead a high-output research team, starting hands-on and then hiring additional researchers

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in applied research, ML engineering, or search/information retrieval with production systems
• Deep knowledge of search, information retrieval, fine-tuning, and model training
• Experience building and leading small, high-output research teams in a startup environment
• Ability to recruit talented researchers and create a productive team culture
• Production-minded with experience debugging and optimizing ML systems
