Head of Software Engineering

Job Summary

Leading the engineering team remotely, the full-time Head of Software Engineering will define and execute a technology roadmap, modernize legacy platforms, and ensure high-quality engineering delivery while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap to modernize legacy systems and align engineering priorities with business strategy
• Lead and develop the engineering team, establishing standards for code quality, security, and documentation while fostering a supportive team environment
• Own engineering delivery, ensuring projects are scoped, executed, and completed to high-quality standards, while troubleshooting complex production incidents

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles
• Demonstrated experience leading legacy system modernization or technology platform migration efforts
• Expert-level understanding of web application architecture and working fluency in ColdFusion and SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of modern web technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and application security requirements in web products
