Health Information Management Specialist

Job Summary

To support the management of protected health information, the full-time remote Health Information Management Specialist will coordinate the release of medical records, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and collaborate with various stakeholders to meet organizational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Analyzes and validates medical record requests for HIPAA compliance and processes them efficiently
• Coordinates the release of protected health information from various sources, ensuring accuracy and adherence to guidelines
• Responds to inquiries from patients and external parties, providing guidance on laws and regulations related to the release of information

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree in Health Information Technology and 2 years of relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency in computer usage, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record documentation
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in problem-solving
• Registered Health Information Technologist certification preferred
