Health Information Specialist

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Health Information Specialist will manage and protect patient health information, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating data access for authorized personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and safeguard protected health information (PHI) in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Facilitate access to health information for authorized users while maintaining confidentiality and security protocols
• Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of health records

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Experience in health information management and knowledge of HIPAA regulations
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information software
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices
