Job Summary
Managing the outpatient coding team, the full-time HIM Outpatient Coding Supervisor will ensure accurate coding of outpatient services, conduct quality audits, provide training, and assist in policy development, with a preference for candidates residing in NE Ohio who can occasionally commute to the Akron location.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor the outpatient coding team to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and timely coding
- Conduct regular audits of coding records to maintain accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for coding staff to keep up with industry changes
Required qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Management, business administration, or a related healthcare field required; bachelor's degree preferred
- AHIMA or AAPC certification required
- A minimum of three years of hospital coding experience preferred
- At least one year of supervisory experience preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office and coding software; experience with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS required
