HIM Technician

Job Summary

To support efficient medical record management, the remote per diem HIM Technician will prepare medical records for scanning, interview mothers for birth certificate information, and ensure the optimal functioning of scanning equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieves and reconciles medical records from nursing units, preparing them for efficient scanning
• Interviews mothers for birth certificate information and enters data into the electronic birth certificate system
• Ensures scanning equipment is functioning properly and reviews scanned documents for quality assurance

Required qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent is required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience is preferred
• Experience with medical records management and scanning procedures is advantageous
• Familiarity with electronic birth certificate systems is preferred
• Knowledge of chart tracking software and document imaging software is beneficial
