HIPAA Subject Matter Expert

Job Summary

As a full-time HIPAA Subject Matter Expert working remotely, the candidate will support the Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights by reviewing security and privacy complaints, evaluating technical submissions from HIPAA covered entities, and developing reports with recommendations for compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review security and privacy complaints and assess the overall impact of security incidents on HIPAA compliance
• Evaluate technical submissions related to security baselines and vulnerability assessments from healthcare organizations
• Document processes and develop written reports summarizing analyses and recommendations for OCR's future actions

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a comparable field
• Ten years of relevant cybersecurity experience preferred
• Experience in auditing and generating audit reports
• Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CIPP/CIPT are preferred
• Fundamental knowledge of systems analysis and computer security procedures
