Hospital Billing Specialist

Job Summary

Responsible for managing hospital insurance billing and collections, the full-time Hospital Billing Specialist will handle inquiries from patients and insurance companies, resolve account adjustments, and process credit balances, working remotely with a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full range of hospital insurance billing, collections, and credit balance account processing
• Respond to billing inquiries and resolve account adjustments, billing edits, and insurance refund requests
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations related to hospital medical insurance claims

Required qualifications

• Three (3) years of recent acute care hospital billing and collection experience
• Extensive knowledge of medical insurance and related rules and regulations
• Experience with insurance claims appeals and coding principles (ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS)
• Knowledge of self-pay collections and hospital payer contracts
• Familiarity with UB04 and revenue codes as they pertain to billing
