Human-Centered Design Consultant

Job Summary

To support a large state Health and Human Services agency, the part-time Human-Centered Design Consultant will lead the redesign of eligibility and benefits notices using human-centered design principles to enhance client understanding and engagement in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct human-centered design assessments to identify usability and accessibility challenges in current notices
• Lead stakeholder workshops and design sessions to gather insights on client needs and communication barriers
• Develop enterprise notice design standards and reusable templates to improve client communications across programs

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Human-Centered Design, User Experience, or related fields
• Experience with plain-language principles and accessibility standards in complex communications
• Strong facilitation skills for leading collaborative design sessions
• Experience in developing reusable design systems or communication frameworks
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Human-Centered Design, Psychology, or Public Health
