Hydromet Development Advisor
Job Summary
Providing specialized technical expertise, the full-time remote MRMS Hydromet Development Advisor will analyze the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase, advise on C++ code modifications, and offer guidance on software design to support the development of the VCP-Agnostic version of MRMS.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze the existing MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase and develop recommendations for the VCP-Agnostic version of MRMS
- Advise on and modify existing C++ code or contribute new code for the optimization of the MRMS Hydromet/QPE software suite
- Provide expert technical guidance and documentation for project staff on software design and coding approaches
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in a technical or business discipline
- 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience
- Proficiency in C++ programming; familiarity with Perl, Python, and Bash preferred
- Experience with software development tools, including Git
- Ability to advise technical teams on software architecture and development risks
