Hydroponics Specialist

Job Summary

To support sustainable agricultural practices, the part-time Hydroponics Specialist will conduct technical feasibility studies, assess local growing conditions, and recommend tailored soilless agricultural systems while working remotely for a duration of 100 days.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical feasibility studies on soilless agriculture systems and assess local environmental conditions
• Engage with stakeholders and communities to gather input for the technical study and prepare necessary presentations
• Participate in technical missions to Nauru for data collection and capacity-building training

Required qualifications

• Advanced University degree in horticulture, agricultural engineering, or a closely related field
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in designing, building, and managing commercial hydroponic systems
• Extensive experience in nutrient management, system design, and environmental control
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, plant nutrition, and agribusiness modeling
• Familiarity with the situation in Nauru and experience working in the Pacific region is advantageous
