IBM i Systems Engineer Consultant

Job Summary

Leading the architecture, development, administration, and support of the Bank's IBM i (AS/400) platform, the full-time remote IBM i Systems Engineer Consultant will provide expert consultative direction, technical leadership, and oversee modernization initiatives while ensuring compliance and security within the IBM i environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert-level consultative direction on IBM i architecture, system design, and performance optimization
• Administer and support IBM i systems, managing troubleshooting, performance tuning, and disaster recovery processes
• Lead modernization initiatives and ensure seamless integration between IBM i and enterprise platforms

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience in systems engineering or a High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of experience
• 15+ years of hands-on experience with IBM i (AS/400) systems
• Deep expertise in IBM i OS, Power Systems hardware, and DB2 for i database administration
• Strong programming experience in RPG, CL, and COBOL
• Proven experience integrating IBM i with modern platforms such as APIs and REST services
