Job Summary
Identifying and documenting cancer patient data, the full-time Illinois Licensed Cancer Registrar will analyze and submit required reporting information remotely, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines while maintaining long-term follow-up processes for cancer registry patients.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze, document, and submit cancer patient history, diagnosis, treatment, and survival data to appropriate databases
- Abstract cancer-related information into the electronic cancer registry system and coordinate data collection for evaluations and audits
- Ensure compliance with reporting requests and maintain adherence to HIPAA and federal/state guidelines
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management
- 5+ years of abstracting experience in a CoC approved cancer program
- Certification from the National Cancer Registrars' Association (NCRA)
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
- Strong understanding of cancer data collection, medical coding, and healthcare regulations
