Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Illinois Licensed Clinical Documentation Specialist will perform concurrent analytical reviews of clinical and coding data to enhance physician documentation, ensuring accurate reflection of patient conditions and supporting appropriate reimbursement.

Key responsibilities
  • Completes initial and follow-up reviews of patient records to assign principal and secondary diagnoses for accurate DRG, SOI, and ROM assignments
  • Queries physicians for additional documentation and educates healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement standards
  • Collaborates with coding professionals to resolve discrepancies and ensure completeness of supporting documentation
Required qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school, PA, NP, or medical school, or hold an Associate's degree with CCDS certification
  • Two years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant experience
  • Current Illinois state licensure as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or other relevant healthcare professional
  • Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) from ACDIS
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation guidelines and coding standards
