Job Summary
To ensure the quality and integrity of coding data, the full-time Illinois Licensed Coding Auditor will perform coding and documentation reviews, respond to external audits, and maintain compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely near an OSF location.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct coding and documentation reviews to validate accurate and compliant coding for OSF services
- Respond to external coding audits and DRG billing denials, including writing appeals and documenting coding rationale
- Research coding and billing code requirements to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement
Required qualifications
- Associates degree in Health Information Management or Bachelor's degree in a related health field
- Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CMA, CPC, or commitment to obtain AHIMA-CCS certification within 12 months of hire
- Three years of experience in hospital or professional coding
- Advanced knowledge of ICD10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines
- Basic proficiency in electronic medical record systems and software applications
