Illinois Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support the revenue cycle team, the full-time hourly Illinois Licensed Medical Coder will assign accurate ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for diagnoses and procedures while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and collaborating closely with team members for billing and reimbursement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures
• Abstract required information for statistical and reimbursement purposes
• Collaborate with revenue cycle team members to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of AAPC or AHIMA approved coding certificate program with relevant certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, and coding guidelines
• Proficiency in Microsoft software and strong analytical skills
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods without distraction
