Illinois Licensed Medicare Billing Specialist

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Illinois Licensed Medicare Billing Specialist, the remote position will manage the accurate and timely submission of Medicare claims for skilled nursing residents while ensuring compliance with CMS regulations and resolving payment issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and submit Medicare Part A & B claims for skilled nursing residents
• Monitor and reconcile claims for proper payment, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Collaborate with MDS coordinators to ensure billing aligns with clinical documentation under PDPM

Required qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience in billing in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility setting
• Extensive knowledge of billing procedures for all payer types, including Medicare and Medicaid
• Proficiency with billing software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Detailed knowledge of Illinois Medicaid regulations and Medicare billing codes
