Job Summary
To support a growing intellectual property portfolio, the full-time Illinois Licensed Patent Attorney will manage patent prosecution, provide strategic IP counseling, and collaborate with internal teams and outside counsel in a hybrid work environment based in Bloomington, Illinois.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and manage patent portfolios with outside counsel
- Partner with various business areas to identify patentable inventions and align IP strategy with enterprise goals
- Conduct freedom-to-operate and validity analysis to guide product development and mitigate IP risks
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school and registration with the USPTO as a member of the patent bar
- 3+ years of patent law experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house corporate experience
- Preferred technical degree in computer programming, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, or data science
- Proven track record of drafting and successfully prosecuting complex software patent applications
- Active law license in at least one state, with a commitment to obtain an in-house limited license for Illinois if not already licensed
