Job Summary

As a key member of the Chicago Public Schools team, the full-time salaried Illinois Licensed Senior Mechanical Engineer will leverage over 10 years of mechanical engineering experience to develop design solutions, oversee technical reviews, and resolve emergent equipment issues while enjoying flexible work arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Attend weekly meetings and provide engineering expertise for MEP issues at CPS schools
• Visit school sites to develop design solutions and collaborate with building engineers and manufacturers
• Develop design packages for implementation by AE firms and perform technical design reviews for compliance with CPS standards

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and a PE license
• 10 to 20 years of mechanical engineering experience, with advanced knowledge of ASHRAE standards and building codes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project, Google Docs, and HVAC calculation software tools
• Experience with renovation designs of historic buildings and understanding of architectural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection considerations
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor, lead, and effectively communicate with diverse audiences
