Job Summary
To support patient care during weekends, the full-time Illinois Licensed Utilization Nurse will oversee and manage functional and financial outcomes for hospitalized patients, ensuring appropriate care levels and resource utilization while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments of new patients to determine correct status and perform concurrent reviews of patient charts for resource utilization
- Communicate with physicians regarding status changes, document utilization reviews, and track avoidable days
- Collaborate with appeal staff on concurrent and retrospective case appeals, providing education on resource utilization to physicians
Required qualifications
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Illinois
- College Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Experience in utilization management or acute care settings
- Strong data management skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and EPIC Case Management software
- Ability to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and build rapport with medical staff
