Job Summary
To support accurate patient care documentation, the full-time hourly Indiana Licensed Coder III will abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from Facility Inpatient medical records while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from Facility Inpatient medical records using assigned classification systems
- Enter accurate coding information into the computerized abstracting system for hospital reimbursement and patient care evaluation
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) staff to ensure accurate capture of DRG and ROM/SOI for each patient
Required qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with Facility Inpatient medical record coding
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and applicable coding guidelines
- Current coding credentials such as CPC, CPC-A, CCA, RHIT, or CCS
- Understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle and hospital reimbursement (preferred)
- Ability to maintain productivity and quality standards in a healthcare coding environment
