Information Systems Security Officer

Job Summary

To support defense and intelligence missions, the remote Information Systems Security Officer will manage security compliance, accreditation efforts, and continuous monitoring activities while collaborating with engineering, IT, and government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of Authority to Operate (ATO) packages and enforce security controls in compliance with NIST and DoD requirements
• Conduct security assessments, monitor compliance, and provide recommendations for mitigating risks and operational concerns
• Coordinate vulnerability management efforts and ensure secure operations across classified systems within defense and intelligence environments

Required qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or compliance within DoD or federal contractor environments
• Experience with RMF accreditation activities and maintaining ATO packages in regulated environments
• Working knowledge of NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and DoD RMF requirements
• Security certification such as Security+, CISSP, CAP, or equivalent
