Job Summary
To support a growing healthcare team, the full-time Inpatient Coder II will code and abstract inpatient records for data retrieval and reimbursement, utilizing a designated coding system while ensuring compliance with quality and productivity standards, and may work remotely from select states.
Key responsibilities
- Code and abstract inpatient records using the 3M encoder for accurate data retrieval and analysis
- Meet quality and productivity coding standards while navigating electronic medical records (EMR)
- Demonstrate competency in inpatient coding guidelines and DRG assignment across multiple facilities
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate Degree preferred
- Minimum of 4 years coding experience in an inpatient acute care setting or 2 years with completion of an internal coding program
- Current AHIMA or AAPC credentials required or must be certified within one year of hire
- Intermediate to advanced technical coding competency in ICD-10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and coding modifiers
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and experience in a remote work environment preferred
