Job Summary

Working remotely, the part-time Inpatient Coder - Maryland Licensed will review, code, and abstract medical records for inpatient services, ensuring compliance with established coding conventions and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and code medical records for inpatient services, identifying physician-documented diagnoses and procedures
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to documented diagnoses and procedures
• Group assigned codes to determine appropriate Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) and ensure compliance with standards

Required qualifications

• Formal working knowledge equivalent to an associate degree in a specialized field
• Knowledge of medical coding principles, conventions, and guidelines
• Ability to accurately review medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
