Job Summary
To support a community hospital's coding needs, the full-time Inpatient Coder with AHIMA Certification will review clinical documentation, assign diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient records, and ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement requirements in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Select and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes for inpatient records
- Review clinical records to ensure accurate MS-DRG assignments reflecting documented diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract clinical data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain data integrity
Required qualifications
- Active AHIMA credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credential (e.g., COC, CCS-P, CPC)
- Two years of recent hands-on coding experience with acute inpatient records
- Successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment
