Inpatient Coding Compliance Specialist
Job Summary
To support compliance initiatives within the Patient Revenue Management Organization, the remote Inpatient Coding Compliance Specialist will implement compliance programs, conduct internal audits, and educate providers on government regulations related to coding and billing.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and maintain compliance programs to reduce legal and financial risks
- Conduct routine internal audits of provider documentation and identify coding risk areas
- Educate providers on compliance with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, HIPAA, and fraud prevention
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Four years of administrative experience in compliance, coding, and auditing related to revenue cycle functions
- Two years of experience with DRGs and APR-DRGs required for technical coding
- Certification as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required; CPC or CPMA preferred
- Experience in formal teaching of coding is preferred
