Inpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support healthcare organizations, the full-time Inpatient Coding Specialist will review clinical documentation to code diagnoses and procedures for inpatient hospital-based claims, ensuring a consistent quality level while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient visits and surgical CPT codes for physician visits, maintaining a quality level of 95% or greater
• Validate MS-DRG or APC assignments and abstract clinical data accurately
• Mitigate coding-related claims scrubber edits and participate in client meetings and training sessions as required

Required qualifications

• An active AHIMA or AAPC credential
• One year of relevant coding experience for the specific patient type within the last six months
• A passing score of 80% on specific pre-employment tests assigned
