Inpatient Medical Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Inpatient Medical Coder (Medical Coder III) to support Military Treatment Facilities while working from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient services according to established standards
• Ensure correct assignment of DRGs for inpatient stays and code discharge records optimally
• Perform tasks within military coding systems and assist with ambulatory and outpatient coding as needed

Required Qualifications

• RHIT or RHIA certification required, or 5 years of experience with AHIMA or AAPC certification
• 5+ years of medical coding/auditing experience in 2+ specialties or 3+ years in a Military Treatment Facility
• At least 1 year of inpatient coding experience required
• Knowledge of ICD-CM, PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding
• 80% minimum score on coding assessment
