Insurance Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time Bedded Insurance Authorization Specialist will perform initial and concurrent insurance authorization securement, clinical submission, and denial prevention for hospitalized patients, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Confirm patient insurance coverage and benefits for procedures, including verification of eligibility and documentation of benefits
• Obtain and maintain insurance authorizations in a timely manner, while working to reduce authorization denials
• Review patient visit information and analyze payor-specific criteria to ensure appropriate authorization and medical necessity documentation

Required qualifications

• Experience working with insurance companies and/or medical authorizations
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance authorization requirements, contract benefits, CPT codes, and medical terminology
• High school diploma or GED; Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) required within 9 months of hire
• Hospital experience preferred
• Ability to handle stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
