Job Summary
To support efficient patient care, the full-time Insurance Authorization Specialist will obtain authorizations for elective procedures and services, ensuring financial clearance by utilizing payor resources and reviewing clinical documentation, all while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Identifying patients requiring pre-certification or pre-authorization at the time services are requested
- Contacting insurance companies to determine eligibility and benefits for requested services
- Utilizing the EPIC system to obtain and follow up on authorization requests within expected timeframes
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience in a medical environment, or an Associate's degree with 1 year of experience
- Knowledge and interpretation of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes
- Understanding of authorization processes and insurance guidelines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a fast-paced environment
