Insurance Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

To support efficient patient care, the full-time Insurance Authorization Specialist will obtain authorizations for elective procedures and services, ensuring financial clearance by utilizing payor resources and reviewing clinical documentation, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying patients requiring pre-certification or pre-authorization at the time services are requested
• Contacting insurance companies to determine eligibility and benefits for requested services
• Utilizing the EPIC system to obtain and follow up on authorization requests within expected timeframes

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience in a medical environment, or an Associate's degree with 1 year of experience
• Knowledge and interpretation of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes
• Understanding of authorization processes and insurance guidelines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a fast-paced environment
