Insurance Registration Specialist

Job Summary

To support a world-class academic healthcare system, the full-time Registration & Insurance Specialist will conduct detailed reviews of patient insurance information, verify coverage, and manage billing activities while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex registration and insurance reviews for out-of-network exceptions, ensuring accurate clinical routing and timely follow-up with payers
• Coordinate with revenue cycle teams to educate patients on their financial responsibilities and ensure proper handoff of accounts
• Monitor work queues and email inbox for timely resolution of accounts and maintain clear documentation in Epic

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years of related insurance experience and 2 years of patient account experience in a hospital setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with hospital information systems, particularly Epic or similar EHR/EMR systems
• Basic understanding of health insurance types and coverage verification processes
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology related to insurance and billing
