Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Summary

To support the Department of Veterans Affairs, the fully remote Insurance Verification Specialist will perform insurance verification and billing activities, ensuring accurate claims processing by verifying patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits.

Key responsibilities:

• Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits through automated databases and direct communication with insurance companies
• Perform Medicare and commercial insurance billing activities, ensuring timely and accurate claims generation
• Review and validate claims for billing purposes, identifying discrepancies and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or related healthcare administrative functions
• Demonstrated experience with verifying insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-certification requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and healthcare information systems
• Strong attention to detail in reviewing claims and billing documentation
