Job Summary

Supporting a federal government client remotely, the Internal Controls Analyst will conduct internal audits, perform risk analysis, and prepare responses for the NOAA Finance Office and external auditors while managing financial management and programmatic activities.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop a five-year internal audit plan based on financial audits and program reviews
  • Evaluate internal controls and support annual audits, including the management control review and OMB Circular A-123 audit elements
  • Act as a liaison between auditors and program personnel, preparing Corrective Action Instruction packages to resolve discrepancies
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 10-12 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for education
  • In-depth understanding of OMB Circular A-123 and GAO Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government
  • Experience performing financial statement audits, including preparation and submission to stakeholders
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting principles as required by FASAB
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and manage customer expectations
