Investment Products Counsel

Job Summary

To support a dynamic investment products portfolio, the full-time Senior Product & Regulatory Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor for Mercury Treasury and Mercury Invest, advising on product life cycles, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in a remote or hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the investment products portfolio by advising on new feature development, drafting disclosures, and addressing operational matters with regulatory impacts
• Collaborate across product, compliance, risk, engineering, and operations to integrate legal perspectives early in product development
• Support compliance efforts by interpreting regulatory requirements and preparing for examinations with FINRA and the SEC

Required qualifications

• 6+ years of legal experience, including at least 2 years focused on non-deposit investment products
• Familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act, Securities Act, Investment Company Act, and related regulatory frameworks
• Some in-house experience preferred, with bonus points for exposure to relevant regulatory agencies
• Strong working knowledge of AI use cases within legal roles and a genuine interest in using AI for efficiency
• Experience outside the investments/brokerage space, with a broader foundation in financial services or fintech
